In Tatkon Township, on the Kintha-Pinlaung road, two individuals were arrested after being found transporting 16 assorted weapons and various types of ammunition concealed in turmeric bags on a vehicle, according to sources.

On the morning of March 17, a light truck traveling from Pinlaung Township in southern Shan State to Tatkon Township was inspected, leading to the discovery of weapons, ammunition, and related items hidden in turmeric bags. The arrest was confirmed by sources close to the police force.

“There were 16 weapons, including various types of guns and a large quantity of ammunition. A case has been filed, and two people were arrested. They were hiding the items in turmeric bags. They weren’t transporting them into Naypyidaw. The investigation is still ongoing. It seems they were planning to take the highway and head toward Magway,” said a source close to the police.

The white/blue light truck, driven by one individual with another accompanying him, was transporting the weapons, ammunition, and related items concealed in turmeric bags. The vehicle was traveling from Pinlaung Township in southern Shan State to Tatkon Township and was suspected to be heading toward Magway Region, according to sources close to the police.

“They were transporting the items through this area. There are joint checkpoints at the gate. During the inspection, the officers found their behavior suspicious, so they searched the vehicle and discovered the hidden weapons,” said a source close to the police.

Among the seized weapons were four MA-1 rifles, two MA-2 rifles, one M-16 rifle, and a total of 16 assorted firearms, along with three hand grenades, over 1,600 rounds of ammunition, uniforms, and communication devices. The two arrested individuals are currently being investigated, and a case has been opened against them.
