Three people, including children, were killed and six others were injured in a joint artillery attack by the KIA and PDF in Shwegu Township, Kachin State, on August 1, according to sources.

A bomb exploded in front of Thein Kabar iron trading shop in Ward No. 1, Shwegu Township at 11:15 am on August 1.

The explosion killed 12-year-old Maung Myo Thawthar Aung, 8-year-old Maung Lin Ya Wai Aung, who were students at the Basic Education Middle School (Khon Kham), and 49-year-old U Aung Kyaw Oo from Ward No.1 and 13-year-old Maung Paing Khant Ko Ko, 41-year-old U Soe Naing Oo, 62-year-old Daw Khin Mar Lwin, 26-year-old Daw Win Thandar, 15-year-old Maung Wai Yan Mon and 53-year-old Daw Khin Myint aka Khin Oo were injured and were taken to Shwegu Township General Hospital for treatment.
