The numbers of COVID-19 positivity rate in Paung Township, Mon State has increasing and people need to be pay serious attention against the virus according to COVID-19 emergency rescue team members.

17 people detained in Paung Township police station were found to be infected with COVID-19 recently and so 80 people close to them were also tested with RDT on December 14. They all showed negative results. The results of 14 who tested with PCR will be known later according to a health worker.

From December 1 to 14, there are 6 confirmed patients in Kyaikhto Township, 4 in Bilin, 2 in Thahton, 19 in Paung, 10 in Mawlamyine, 3 in Kyaikmayaw, 8 in Chaungsone, 6 in Mudon, 25 in Thanbyu Zayat, 4 in Yay, totaling 87. One from Kyaikmayaw, Bilin and Chaungsone townships were died with the virus according to Ministry of Health.

Beginning from last 2 months, the COVID-19 rate has declined. So, people pay less attention to COVID-19 rules. They don’t wear masks when going out and forget to wash their hands. Public gatherings occurred as shops are opened. If people pay more attention, the positivity rate may reduce,” said a doctor helping to fight with COVID-19.

From June 28 to November 30, there are 16,382 confirmed patients, 1,393 were killed in Mon State according to MOH.
