MYEIK- An Investment Forum will be held at Sea View Condo in Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region, on December 7th and 8th.

International communities are invited to invest more in Myanmar and heads of state will attend the investment forum.

“We already prepared for a variety of projects such as tourism, agriculture, livestock and mining industries. Moreover, we included the upgrading of three domestic airports in Myeik, Dawei and Kawthaung Townships in the forum. In the past, jetties in Myeik Township were very crowded. We have a plan to build more jetties aiming to accomodate more vessels and boats and in turn easier commodities flow,” said Yi Yi Cho, Planning and Finance Minister from Taninthari Region.

“The investment forum aims to boost the regional development in Tanintharyi Region. It is a coastal region and boasts many beautiful islands. Moreover, various ethnics and religions are now living in peaceful coexistence within one nation as well as youth entrepreneurs and others that are keen on doing business. So, the Tanintharyi Region has much potential to prosper with investments. If more investments will come to Tanintharyi Region, it will be developed. So, we would like to urge all people to participate in the forum,” said Yi Yi Cho.

Although the State Counsellor had planned to attend the investment forum, she will now most probably will not show.

So, the Union Ministers and entrepreneurs led by Vice President-1 Myint Swe will attend the forum.

The forum aims to attract responsible investment to the region, which includes the Myeik Archipelago on the Andaman Sea. The region only has a handful of hotels and guesthouses despite tourism being a major revenue generator.

It is expected that there would be over 100 booths in the forum.
