
A medical team led by Professor (Surgery) Dr Aung Khine Zan, assistant surgeon Dr Htet Aung Kyaw and Professor (Anesthesiology) Dr Phone Myint performed a primary closure on a four-day-old baby girl of mother Nan Mway Phaung, with gastroschisis with preterm low birth weight, at Sao San Tun Hospital on 30 September, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Information.
The baby was born in a normal delivery weighing 2.2 kilogrammes before the due date as the opening of the amniotic sac occurred at Kholam General Hospital (100-bed) in Shan State at 6:15 pm on 26 September.
At 8 pm on that day, Dr Lin Htin Kyaw, medical Superintendent of Kholam General Hospital and party conducted the primary repair to place the bowels back inside of the baby's belly and transferred the patient to Sao San Tun Hospital in Taunggyi on 27 September.
The baby was discharged on 3 October and found in good health at her medical appointment on 11 October, the ministry reported.
