Strong wind destroys religious buildings and houses in Indawgyi Region

A strong wind hit in Maingnaung village, Indawgyi Region in Kachin State on the evening of April 25. It also destroyed religious buildings and over 50 houses and lasted about one hour, according to one of the members of Ward Administration Team.

“There were a lot of hailstones on the road. Strong wind hit in Maingnaung and Nantmon villages. In Maingnaung village, a monastery, village’s warehouse and the roofs of crematoria were destroyed and blown out as well as five lamp-posts fell down. The roofs of 52 houses were also blown out. The strong wind destroyed the summer soya-bean plantations. However, other villages had faced a few damages. The wind ball heading to the creek was completely black. It was very strong comparing last year,” said one of the locals from Mingnaung village.

The strong wind had hit in Mingnaung village on April 17 of 2022 and stalls and the roofs of houses were destroyed and blown out.

Likewise, upper Sagaing region and lower Kachin State suffered the strong wind on the evening of April 23 and also faced some losses.
