Residents of Mandalay say aftershocks have been occurring frequently in and around the city following a powerful earthquake.

"The tremors have become more frequent. At this point, we’re not even worried anymore. Even if they don’t happen daily, they occur every other day, so people have gotten used to it. There was one today, and another yesterday," a Mandalay resident said.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, an aftershock measuring 3.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck about three miles northeast of Mandalay, with a depth of 19 kilometers

Additionally, on the morning of July 28, exactly four months after the major earthquake, another aftershock was recorded one mile south of Maha Aung Mye Township in Mandalay Region, at a depth of 33 kilometers.

Since the initial strong quake, 215 aftershocks have been recorded over the past four months. In July alone, there were 19 aftershocks, including one measuring 5.5 magnitude and five others above magnitude 4, as reported by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
