The foreigner met with the State Counsellor recently is UN Resident Coordinator for Myanmar and at the present, President and the State Counsellor don’t need to be in quarantine and are in good health, said Zaw Htay, Spokesperson of President’s Office.

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi met with Ola Almgren, UN Resident Coordinator for Myanmar on March 23 and the COVID-19 patient quarantined in 1000-Bed Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw is an office staff of UN special representative for Myanmar.

The spokesperson clarified about the news speculated in social media that state leaders are kept in quarantine as the foreigner met with State Counsellor is found infected with COVID-19 virus.

“The President and State Counsellor are in good health and they are taking their duties regularly. They don’t do self-quarantine or home quarantine,” said Zaw Htay.

While the COVID-19 outbreak is occuring in Myanmar, state leaders are very cautious to meet the guests and some fake accounts are circulating news in social media using the photo of State Counsellor met with the UN Resident Coordinator for Myanmar.
