State Counsellor meets with Nepalese President, Prime Minister

YANGON- State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi currently in Nepal for a formal visit had met with the Nepalese President and Prime Minister separately to discuss about bilateral trade, investment, mutual relationship and promoting of cooperation, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Information.

Union Minister of International Cooperation Kyaw Tin and Nepalese Foreign Minister Pradeep later signed an agreement to boost bilateral trade and investment in the presence of the State Counsellor and the Nepalese Prime Minister.

The information ministry also reported that the visiting State Counsellor met with Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the former’s presidential house in Kathmandu yesterday morning and discussed matters on strengthening bilateral relationship, investments and boosting pilgrimage and tourism industries.

On the occasion were Kyaw Tin, Union Minister of International Cooperation, Commerce Deputy Minister Aung Htoo, Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal Thiri Pyanchi Tun Nay Lin and officials. 

After the call, the State Counsellor signed at the extinguished visitors’ Book in the presidential house.

Suu Kyi also met with Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Hotel Annapura in Kathmandu.

During the meeting, both sides reportedly held a transparent discussion about paying more goodwill visits between the two countries, democracy and peace process, boosting of bilateral trade and investments and bilateral relationships. 

The State Counsellor was also cited to have extended an invitation to the Nepalese Prime Minister to pay a goodwill visit to Myanmar.  

Union Minister Kyaw Tin and Nepalese Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali signed MoU on bilateral trade and investments in presence of the State Counsellor and the Nepalese Prime Minister at the Hotel Annapura in Kathmandu.

Myanmar delegation led by the State Counsellor attended the luncheon hosted by the Nepalese Prime Minister at the Hotel Annapurna.

She also met with Nepalese ex-Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba who is also the Chairman of Congress Party at the Solatee Crowne Plaza Hotel.

In the evening, she attend the dinner at the Solate Crowne Plaza Hotel in honour of the Heads of States who are attending the Asia-Pacific Summit.
