State Counsellor discusses living conditions with NMSP

NAYPYITAW- State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, also the Chairperson of the National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC), discussed about teaching Mon language, regional developments and living conditions with the members of New Mon State Party (NMSP) in Nay Pyi Taw, according to the announcement by the State Counsellor’s Office yesterday.

On the occasion, the State Counsellor said that Myanmar’s current needs for peace, development and priority over ethnic affairs after the NMSP had signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement and requirements for cooperation for successfully holding of upcoming Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong in line with the decisions of 8th JICM meeting.

Likewise, the NMSP’s Chairman Nai Han Thar said that the State Counsellor made a speech during the 4th Anniversary of NCA Singing Ceremony saying that she wanted to establish the federal union. The NMSP’s chairman fully supported the State Counsellor’s goal. The ethnic races raised the more trust on the State Counsellor as well as it was needed to overcome the obstacles in the political dialogue that had yet to reach any agreements.

On the occasion were NRPC vice-chairman-1 Union Minister Kyaw Tint Swe, vice-chairman-2 Peace Commission Chairman Dr Tin Myo Win, vice-chairman 3 Union Attorney-General Tun Tun Oo, Union Minister Min Thu, Secretary Deputy Minister Khin Maung Tin, Director-General Zaw Htay of the Ministry of State Counsellor Office, NMSP’s Joint-Secretary Nai Win Hla, CEC members Nai Aung Ma Ngay, Nai Banya Lei and Military leader Nai Banya Mae San.

Although NMSP had signed the ceasefire agreement in 1995, the agreement cancelled in April of 2010.

Later, they again agreed to a ceasefire with the government in 2012. Moreover, they had signed the NCA on February 13th, 2018.

The NSMP held its 10th Conference from December 25th, 2019 to January 5th. On the event, vice-chairman Nai Han Thar was elected as the new chairman of NMSP.
