TAUNGGYI- A ceremony to commemorate the 30th Anniversary Pearl Jubilee of Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) is being held at the Shan Literature and Culture Hall in Taunggyi Township, Shan State, from October 25th to 26th.

Over 2,200 party members from Shan and Kachin States, Bago, Sagaing and Mandalay Regions attended the event.

SNLD’s Chairman Khun Tun Oo made an opening speech in the Shan Language on October 25th and presented special awards to those who had supported the party for a long 30 years and made sacrifices for the party.

“We really wish that the entirety of the people would be enjoying the genuine Federal Union and equal rights starting from the 30th Anniversary Pearl Jubilee. The Party Chairman has said that the elder members have been serving the party for no less than 30 years. They should now rest and resign. However, the new generation isn’t ready because they are unable to participate in our society. So, we would like to urge the new generation youths, including females, to be more interested in the political sphere and also to strive for the rights of the people. We are going to celebrate the event across two days and will honour the heroes that have served our party for 30 years. In the evening, we are going to hold political dialogues external experts that have been invited,” said Sai Leik, SNLD’s Joint-secretary -1.

The resource persons read out their papers at the second day event being held on October 26th.

Likewise, the SNLD will be issuing the new announcement to mark the 30th Anniversary Pearl Jubilee.
