As the global gold price soared to around 1,552 US dollars per ounce in September 2019, the local gold price hit a record high of Ks 1,315,000 per tickle. Since 2016, the local gold price continues to hit the record high for four consecutive years. The Weekly Eleven picks it as the significant one for the year 2019. 

The local gold price per tickle reached Ks 800,000 in 2016, Ks 900,000 in 2017, Ks 10,000,000 in 2018, Ks around 13,000,000 in 2019. 

Take a look at the global gold prices for 30 years, the price reached a record low of 252 US dollars per ounce in 1999. In September 2011, the global gold price hit a record high of 1889 US dollars. At that time, the local gold price exceeded Ks720,000 per tickle. Since 2013, the global gold price lowered to  1400 US dollars per ounce. In 2019 and beyond 2013, the global gold price reached the highest level. 

Local gold price is linked to the fluctuations of global gold price and foreign currency exchange rate.
