In Tachilek, six men involved in the abduction of the owner of the OK Money Transfer shop were apprehended and shot dead in a confrontation with security forces. They were found in possession of narcotics, firearms, and ammunition, and the abducted victim, U Yan Htin Chan, was successfully rescued.
The incident occurred on December 13 at 6:05 AM in Tachilek Township, Shan State (East), in Mae Khaung Ward, on Bo Gyoke Road, where U Yan Htin Chan operated the OK Money Transfer shop. While he was at his residence, a white Crown Royal Saloon vehicle arrived in front of his house, and three men (currently under investigation) alighted and abducted him, fleeing westward along Bo Gyoke Road in the vehicle.
Following the abduction, security forces conducted investigations to locate the perpetrators. They received information that the suspects were hiding in a house at No. (PaSa-1/270) on Sin Phyu Min Street, Pa Sat Ward, Tachilek Township. Acting on this tip, security forces raided the residence at 5:30 PM on December 18.
During the raid, the suspects opened fire on the security personnel in an attempt to escape. The forces returned fire, apprehending six male suspects, including Kyan Bi Yin (under investigation) and Maung Maung Oo (under investigation). The raid resulted in the recovery of various items, including a ZORAKI M906-T .380 caliber pistol with four rounds and a magazine, an M-16 rifle with 17 rounds and a magazine, six vehicle license plates, two black bulletproof vests, one security uniform, a gray raincoat, a winter jacket, three caps, one national ID card, two driver’s licenses, four spent shell casings (5.56 caliber), four spent pistol shell casings, one white Toyota Crown Royal Saloon, three mobile phones, and 65,000 WY methamphetamine tablets.
The victim, U Yan Htin Chan, was safely rescued, and all seized items, including firearms and narcotics, were taken into custody.
The incident highlights the successful operation of security forces in rescuing the victim and neutralizing the armed suspects. The authorities are continuing legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
