According to officials speaking at the second compensation ceremony for victims of the Sky Villa collapse in Mandalay Region, search and recovery operations have been completed after 207 bodies were retrieved, and residents may now collect valuables left behind, including jewelry, land deeds, motorcycles, and cars.

With the conclusion of operations, authorities announced that 60th Street in front of the collapsed building will also be reopened.

“Owners of the destroyed apartments still have valuable items such as jewelry, ID cards, bank books, and land deeds that need to be collected. Some are too emotionally affected to return to the site, so belongings remain. Since search and clearance operations are finished, the supervisory office will soon close down the site. Within a day or two, unclaimed items will no longer be available. Those who have yet to collect their property can coordinate with the company. This includes 28 cars and over 50 motorcycles,” said a member of the District Disaster Management Committee.

At the first compensation ceremony held on September 8, 72 victims’ families each received 1 million kyats, and at the second ceremony on September 15, another 74 families were given the same amount.
