The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) formed by the State Administration Council of Myanmar has held China-mediated talks with officials from MNDAA, TNLA and AA to resolve the ongoing conflict through political means.
“Officials from our NSPNC held discussions with officials from the MNDAA, TNLA and AA to find a political solution with the help of the People's Republic of China. Depending on this discussion, we would like to say that there will be further talks at the end of this month," said Major General Zaw Min Tun, spokesman for the SAC.
At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China held on December 11, Mao Ning, spokesperson of the ministry, said that China was happy to see that the peace talks regarding the conflicts in northern Myanmar had been held achieving positive results, and China would continue to provide support and facilitation to this end, BBC reported.
Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar U Than Swe and member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Foreign Minister Wan Yi met in Beijing, China, on December 6, and exchanged views on the stability of the situation in northern Myanmar.
During the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China-Myanmar is a multi-faceted strategic partnership with a traditional bond of friendship, and always supports each other. China hopes that Myanmar will bring about internal reconciliation as soon as possible under the constitutional framework and continue the process of political transformation. China has never interfered in the internal affairs of Myanmar. He praised Myanmar's adherence to the one-China policy. Myanmar has always firmly opposed "Taiwan independence" movements and believes that it will support China's reunification. China praised Myanmar's early support of the global development plan, global security measures and global human culture initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. China expressed its desire to actively develop the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor by sharing Chinese-style modernization experiences with Myanmar.
Just recently, China-Myanmar cooperation has achieved good results in combating telecommunications fraud and rescuing trapped people in the northern region of Myanmar, and it has effectively deterred criminal organizations. China's foreign minister said the two sides must promote law enforcement cooperation and crack down on online gambling and telecommunications fraud.
Similarly, Myanmar Foreign Minister U Than Swe said in the discussion that China is Myanmar's most important neighbor. Myanmar attaches great importance to improving relations with China and respects China's development results. Myanmar wishes to cooperate deeply with China in various fields and build a shared Myanmar-China community. Myanmar expresses its appreciation to China for sharing cooperation opportunities with Myanmar under the "Belt and Road" initiative. Myanmar will speed up internal negotiations and actively develop the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor. Myanmar is still facing many challenges. He expressed his hope that Myanmar will continue to receive support from China and bring about domestic stability and peace. He said that Myanmar will resolutely combat transnational crimes such as telecommunications fraud, and will conduct comprehensive coordination with China in this regard.
