NAYPYITAW-----According to the emergency provisions act, the State Administration Council (SAC) will be extending its duties after one year since SAC took the state power by holding a meeting of National Defence and Security Council, says Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Deputy Minister of Information who is also a SAC’s spokesperson at the press conference held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

A reporter questioned whether SAC will extend its duty after one year in office or not in accordance with emergency provisions act of the State Constitution because the SAC took the state power on February 1st in 2021.

Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun replied that the SAC will be one year on February 1st. After one year since SAC took the state responsibility, SAC will be carrying out the provisions in accordance with the emergency provisions act. So, there have been many ways to extend its state duties by calling a meeting of National Defence and Security Council.

“Currently, Kayah and Chin States as well as some parts of northern Sagaing Region and northern Magway Region are unstable. Moreover, there has been violence in states and regions mentioned above. Finally, we are going to hold the general election in August 2023 in accordance with the law. So, we are now striving to hold an election,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

He said that the military [Tatmadaw] didn’t start the unrest in the country. But, NUG, PDF and some EAOs create the unrests. Concerning EAOs, they didn’t attack on public properties unless EAOs attack the military.
