The State Administration Council (SAC) issued an order on January 4 that 180 foreign prisoners were pardoned and deported.

A total of 180 prisoners serving sentences in various prisons were pardoned and deported by order No. (4/2025) of the SAC on January 4.

The SAC freed and deported the 180 foreign prisoners for the celebration of the 77th Independence Day on January 4, for the principles of friendly relations between countries and on humanitarian grounds. They have been granted pardon under a condition in which "if he or she commits the crime again, he or she will continue to serve the remaining punishments to be served in addition to the current punishment" in line with Section 401, sub-section (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
