The State Administration Council (SAC) has dismissed the rumours that six brigadier generals who gave up their positions in Laukkai, Kokang region, have been court-martialled.

The SAC information team said that the news circulating on social media was false and baseless.

The six brigadier generals were among the over 3,700 people who were evacuated from Laukkai, the capital of the Kokang Self-Administered Zone, by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) group after a clash with the Tatmadaw (military). The MNDAA transported them to Lashio, where they were received by the Tatmadaw.

SAC Spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun said that the decision to withdraw from Laukkai was made by the local commanders after considering all aspects of the situation. He said that the Tatmadaw did not abandon Laukkai, but rather relocated its forces to ensure the safety of the people and the stability of the region.
