SAC chairman meets with Russian Deputy Chairman of the State Duma

Chairman of State Administration Council (SAC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with a delegation led by Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation at the parlour of Panglong Yeiktha in Taunggyi, Shan State, on May 30 and discussed about condition that Russia will assist in making the election free and fair in Myanmar. 

At the meeting, they cordially discussed the situation to further promote existing friendly relations as this year turns 75 for Myanmar-Russia diplomatic relations, further promotion of mutual cooperation in all sectors of both countries, cooperation in transport and electric power generation sectors in Myanmar, sending scholarship students from Myanmar to Russian Federation for development of human resources in science and technological sectors, plans of Russian Federation to provide assistance to severe cyclonic storm Mocha-hit areas, enhancement of exchange of visits to increase relations between people of both countries, further promotion of cooperation in all sectors between Myanmar and Russia, and meeting with officials from the Myanmar Election Commission and assistance from Russian to hold a free and fair election in Myanmar.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance Win Shein, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and officials. The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, was accompanied by Ambassador of the Russian Federation Mr Nikolai Listopadov and officials from the State Duma, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Moreover, the visiting Russian delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma met with SAC’s deputy Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the rehabilitation processes regarding Cyclone Mocha, Myanmar-Russia cooperation in the tourism industry, promotion of the tourism sector, normal operation of bilateral flights between two countries, the potential for promotion of Myanma Railways, small-scale nuclear power generation in Myanmar, development programs in energy, investment, technology and human recourses and further bilateral relations and cooperation. 

Also present at the event together with the Vice-Senior General were Union Minister Aung Thaw, Deputy Ministers Aung Kyaw Tun, Thant Sin and Dr Aung Zeya. The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, was accompanied by Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Nikolai Listopadov and other officials.
