Russians will be visiting Myanmar’s significant places: Russian Ambassador

Russian citizens will soon visit the significant places in Myanmar, said the Russian ambassador to Myanmar. 

He disclosed the information during the opening of a basic tour guide course and the closing of a Russian spoken language course.

Russia and Myanmar have built amicable relations and the next year will be the 75th anniversary diamond jubilee, said the ambassador adding that he believed both countries would be able to promote the bilateral tourism industry.

He continued that Russian people would be coming to Myanmar soon to visit its significant places and expressed his belief that they would love the country.    

On the occasion, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Htay Aung said the two countries had had a very long friendship and Inya Lake Hotel and Yangon University of Technology in Yangon and Sao San Tun Hospital in Taunggyi were built with Russian assistant in 1962. The two countries were now further strengthening cooperation and that would further promote the tourism industry, he added.

Myanmar reopened all international airlines on April 17 this year. As e-business visas and e-tourist visas have been granted, international tourists from 79 countries are entering the country.

During a meeting at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon, the minister urged officials from the hotels running with foreign investments to make cooperative efforts to revive and boost the country’s tourism as tourism activities will come to a head in peak season this year.
