A row occurred after a couple were denied votes for Bamar and Inn ethnic votes at the No.3 polling station, Sat San Tun Ward, Taunggyi.

The couple that were unable to vote claimed that they had checked their eligbility list both times when they were announced. In the first list, they were not eligible for the aforementioned option of voting so they claimed that they had used Form 3 to reapply. They then came to check a total of four times, but still they were not allowed to vote for Bamar ethnic affairs and Inn ethnic affairs, according to the couple.

They express unhappiness at losing those rights.

"We have the cards. There are four ballot boxes. I am Bamar and my wife is Inn. We were not allowed to vote because apparently we were not confirmed as Bamar and Inn because it wasn't written down. I asked why to the election staff and they said because the word Bamar was not there. We came to the office four times and also used Form 3 (a) to let them know. I figured that was done when we recieved the tickets but it wasn't. In the household census list, all of our names and ethnicities are included. We did not receive full rights of citizenship. We asked the (local) commission's chair politely. I am educated and at an age where I am calm. (When asked) Instead of solving the issue, he yelled to call the police. What are they going to arrest me for? I don't have any sharp objects. I don't even have a phone. We are voting peacefully because we want to get rid of such dictatorial behaviour of threatening with arrests. But sorry if they are going to call the cops on me," said U Myat Ko Ko Aung that lost the right to vote regarding Bamar ethnicity.

His spouse and an Inn ethnic Daw Wai Wai Aung said ,"We came four times before to make sure we can vote. We weren't included so the clerk then told me that we have to reapply. And we did. Another clerk assured us that we will definitely be included in the list and told us to check on the 10th. The thing is we can no longer check on the 10th. We were about to lose our rights so we came earlier. They told us we were included and told us to go back. We voted in 2015 and for Inn ethnics, we get for voutes. We have five people in our family. My sister casted advance vote in Singapore and even then, we already lose the ethnic vote. Now we lost 3 more ethnic votes. We were talking politely but they called the police on us. The police told us to follow them. We had everything on us. We don't even have a small needle (sharp object) on us. We are voting so that we don't like dictatorial rule. So we have lost four votes in our family. One vote could mean the dictators winning. Our household lost four votes. We definitely are unhappy about this."

Regarding this matter, sources claim that the commission managed to solve this issuee and that the chairman of the San San Tun sub-election commission said that bygones are bygones and there will be no legal charges pressed.
