Taninthayi Region government is invited open tender to generate and provide electricity in Kawthoung Township on February 7, sources said.

Tender forms are sold at the office of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy for the region from February 7 and the deadline for the tender will be on March 6.

“The application forms start selling from February 7. Ranking will not be the same in this system. We will look at the applicant profiles and if they pass, we will test them technically. After they pass the technical test, they will compete for price. The applicant who offered the lowest price will be granted the project,” said Aung Thura, regional minister for electricity and energy.

The tender selection process is changed and rules and regulations of the tender for Kawthoung are the same with those of the tenders for Dawei and Myeik. If the companies competed in the tender selection process are found the company is not registered in Myanmar or the company registration is expired or the company has debts, they will be banned from the tender selection process.

The tender selection process will be in two phases and the respective authorities will examine the companies’ profiles and technical facts in detail. They will not make public of the scores and the companies which pass the test will be notified to compete for the price.
