The committee is reviewing the Region and State Government Law for the amendment as the region and state governments face difficulties in implementing their works, according to the Lower House’s Parliamentary Rights Committee.

Dr. Hla Moe, Secretary of the Lower House’s Parliamentary Rights Committee said: “The committee is tasked with amending the outdated laws. Currently, the committee is seeking ways of how to amend the law without going against the constitution. Our committee could successfully amend the Myanmar Parliamentary Law.”

“It is found that the region and state governments encounter difficulties in implementing their works. Officials from respective region and state governments will be invited to parliament to seek ways of how to amend it,” he added.

The Region and State Government Law has no exact provisions of the duties and authority of the chief ministers and advantages and disadvantages, he continued.

“The amendments to the original provisions of the law should not go against the constitution. It should be beneficial to the people. The process should also be ready for the organization which will implement it,” he said.
