NAYPYITAW------People staged a protest against the unfair election results in front of the Union Election Commission’s (UEC) Headquarter in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday noon.

The police dispersed the protesters and the security was beefed up subsequently around the UEC headquarters.

The protest was jointly organized by the members of Union Solidarity and Development party (USDP), United Democratic party which had been disbanded from the political parties and charity association from Dhakhina Thiri Township.

“We heard that eligible voters had casted their votes two times. So, we are trying to gather strong evidence and then we will reject it within 15 days. All people from Dhakhina Thiri Township didn’t give the votes by having an obsession with their favorite party. Dhakhina Thiri dwellers want to elect a good candidate. If the voting results will be true, we must accept it. We want to become a free and fair election. We are going to complain against the election results step by step,” said Zaw Oo, a leader of a charity association in Dhakhina Thiri Township.

The protesters held up signs and vinyls said that the election was not free and fair as well as calling on opposed unfair cases, show support of public desire, protection for the State Constitution as well as calling on the UEC to resign now.

“We seemed that the Nov.8 election was not free and fair and then there had been ballot swindle cases across the nation,” said one of the USDP supporters from Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw council area.

The protesters held a protest in front of UEC’s headquarter for about 15 minutes and then they left the office due to a ban of the police force.

Moreover, the police force beefed up tight security measures including police vehicles being used in the crackdown in front of UEC headquarter and its environment.

The media asked the police force about the ban on the protesters whether there will be taken actions against the protesters or not.

The police force replied that they can’t answer it.
