The Union Election Commission (UEC) advised President Win Myint to clarify about the voters list released by the army during January and the president rejected it, said Than Htay, former member of the UEC.

He said about it in a video released by the State Administration Council (SAC) in a press conference held at the Office of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw on March 11.

“UEC’s Chair Hla Thein, its members Myint Naing and myself met with the president during January and we advised the president to clarify about the voters list. He said we don’t need to clarify it and it will not end if we are clarifying about everything,” he said in the video.

He said the president made some changes in the statement released by the UEC on January 28 to the public and made to announce it.

“Our commission is an independent organization and the former president influenced over the tasks of the commission though we have to make decisions and announcements by organizing with the chair and its 14 members. The commission was supervised by the president instead of doing the tasks which they should,” he said.

He said in the video that he had to tell about it as all need to know about the matters related with the 2020 general election.
