Unknown gunmen killed Police Captain Ko Ko Lwin and injured a policeman while they were shopping in Hmawshan Village, Seikmu Village Tract in Hpakant, Kachin State around 7 am on August 3, according to locals.

A police official said, "They will shot while the Police Captain was shopping with a policeman for a front line camp of No.30 battalion. The policeman had a slight injury. He is very good in sports. He has family.”

The body of the deceased was taken to the Hpakant Public Hospital.

On July 31, a police outpost in Hmawsisar Village, Lonkhin Village Tract in Hpakant was attacked with two mines.
