A woman under investigation of COVID-19 died at Mainaung station hospital in Kyaythee Township, Loilin District, southern Shan State, on the evening of March 20. 

The 41-year-old woman who returned from Thailand had in the village for about two weeks for her treatment as she was suffering from pneumonia.  

“She had no fever. As she started suffering from pneumonia in Thailand, she came to the village to receive treatment secretly, according to the hospital over the phone. She had been at the hospital for two days. She was also suffering from diabetes and pneumonia. She had no fever. But she was coughing. Her swab was sent to the library for diagnosis. But now she has died,” said State MP Sai San Mein for Kyaythee Township. 

As the woman started suffering from coughing and fatigue on March 5, she came to Mainaung station hospital on March 19. Since she had a history of staying in Thailand, she was regarded as a suspected COVID-19 case and plans were made to send her samples to the National Health Laboratory. Meanwhile, she died, the Ministry of Health and Sports announced on March 20.
