Over 60 children hospitalized due to food poisoning in Yangon

More than 60 children from Basic Primary School No.29 in Thakayta Township and Ward No.67 in Dagon Seikkan Township in Yangon have been sent to hospitals after showing symptoms of food poisoning, according to social welfare organizations.

Initial reports say that round 20 children from the school are being hospitalized due to food poisoning at about 12pm on November 2.

The students started to show symptoms after having eaten fried vermicelli donated to the primary school located on Leyar Street (1) in North Ward, Thakayta Township. Moreover, 20 other students are being treated in the school compound by healthcare teams.  

In another case, a lot of children and some adults from Ward No.67 in Dagon Seikkan Township came to a free clinic named Akyinnar Kutho in the ward after showing symptoms of food poisoning. The clinic then sent about 45 people including children under 12 and adults to hospitals with the help of ambulances from charity organizations. 

The children suffering from food poisoning were sent to Yankin Children’s Hospital, Yangon Children’s Hospital and North Okkalapa Hospital.
