Over 2 billion Kyats worth of methamphetamine pills seized inside a Cargo Truck in Mandalay’s Thazi Township

Authorities in Thazi Township, Mandalay Region, intercepted a cargo truck attempting to smuggle more than 1.38 million methamphetamine pills valued at over 2 billion kyats hidden inside its body structure, according to a report from the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC)Myanmar.

On the night of January 24, at 11:00 PM, an anti-narcotics task force conducted a search near Kywetatson Village in Thazi Township. Acting on a tip-off, they stopped an I ZONE cargo truck driven by Myo Min Oo @ Me Gyi who was traveling from Muse Township, Northern Shan State to Yangon Region.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the truck had been modified to conceal the massive haul of methamphetamine pills. Investigations revealed that the drugs had been transported from Northern Shan State to be sold in Yangon Region.

The driver was taken into custody and legal action has been initiated. Authorities continue to investigate in pursuit of other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
