Over 120 clashes occurred in KNU’s Brigade-4 areas from January to November 16

A total of 123 rounds of armed clashes had occurred in Brigade-4’s areas of Myeik-Dawei district of the Karen National Union (KNU)-controlled Kawthoolei region from January to November 16, 2022, according to a statement released by the KNU (Central).

There have been clashes between the Myanmar military and troops of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO) in the Brigade-4 areas, the statement said.

There were 30 small and large clashes in those areas from November 1 to 16 this year.

From January to November 16 this year, there had been 123 small and large clashes in the areas, the statement said.

Earlier this month, the KNU also reported that the whole Kawthoolei region had seen over 3,800 rounds fighting from January to October 2022, and over 100,000 out of more than 300,000 displaced people were in humanitarian need.

In 2021 also, Kawthoolei region experienced 3,152 engagements.
