The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has reported that nearly 100 aftershocks measuring above magnitude 3 on the Richter scale have occurred following the initial powerful earthquake.

The main earthquake, which struck on March 28 with a devastating magnitude of 7.7, was followed by numerous aftershocks.

According to the latest data available as of the afternoon of April 7, the total number of recorded aftershocks has reached 98.

Among these subsequent tremors, four have been particularly strong, exceeding magnitude 5.

The majority of the aftershocks have registered between magnitude 3 and 5, still significant enough to cause concern among the affected population.

In Mandalay, the situation remains tense as residents cope with daily tremors. Many people have chosen to sleep in open areas such as along the city's moats, on street platforms, and in football fields, fearing further damage to already weakened structures. Some residents have even relocated temporarily to nearby areas perceived as safer, leading to an increase in displaced populations in surrounding regions.

The city's residents have adapted to the ongoing seismic activity by establishing temporary shelters in wide-open spaces. Parks, sports fields, and even streets away from large buildings have become makeshift campsites. In certain neighborhoods, families are spending nights outdoors, sleeping on roadsides to maintain a safe distance from potentially unstable structures.
