Myanmar’s military medical personnel discuss with PLA medics

YANGON-Myanmar military medical personnel discussed control and treatments COVID-19 with the medics from China People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the 1,000-bedded Defence Services General Hospital in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Region, on April 27th.

The information came from the military announcement released on April 27th.

The Chinese medics from PLA arrived in Myanmar on April 24th aiming to assist Myanmar in fighting against the COVID-19.

The visiting Chinese medics explained about their challenges while facing the COVID-19 patients and overcoming them.

The Chinese medics will be collaborating with Myanmar's military medical personnel at the 1,000-bedded Defence Services General Hospital in Mingaladon Township until May 4th, according to the military’s announcement.

Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Secretary of Tatmadaw True News Information Team, said at the press conference held on April 25th that the Chinese medics brought medical supplies and 10 kinds of protective equipment. They will stay in Myanmar for two weeks. While staying in Myanmar, they will carry out three kinds of work.

He also said that the Chinese medics will attend a COVID-19 meeting being organized by the military. They will assist in the army’s construction of COVID-19 laboratory and they will share frontline experiences in Wuhan, epicenter of COVID-19 outbreak area.

A 12-member medical expert team from China's Yunnan Province arrived in Myanmar as the first batch of medical assistance from China on April 8 and carried out collaborations with Myanmar's health authorities for two weeks, drawing on their frontline experiences in China.

As of Wednesday morning, Myanmar has reported 150 COVID-19 confirmed cases with five deaths and 16 patients have been discharged from the hospital.
