A Myanmar worker is reportedly undergoing medical treatment after suffering an electric shock at a POSCO construction site in South Korea.

The worker was rushed to a hospital following the accident at a POSCO construction site in Seoul, where he received emergency treatment. He has since been transferred to Seoul Smart Convalescent Hospital for continued recovery and rehabilitation.

According to reports, U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires/Minister of the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul, accompanied by the Labour Attaché and embassy staff, visited the worker at the rehabilitation hospital.

During the visit, the embassy delegation checked on the patient’s condition and coordinated necessary assistance. The Chargé d’Affaires, the Labour Attaché, and embassy officials also provided gifts to the injured worker and his wife. They reaffirmed the embassy’s ongoing commitment to supporting Myanmar nationals in Korea and encouraged the patient to focus on his recovery, assuring him that he could contact the embassy anytime if further help was needed.

Furthermore, Chargé d’Affaires U Myo Myint Maung met at the same hospital with POSCO Senior Vice President Mr. Yeo Seong Ho, POSCO Managing Director Mr. Gong Jaeseop, and Mr. Kim Jae Chan, General Manager of LT Sambo, a subsidiary construction firm. They discussed the worker’s medical condition and the company’s plans for continued support.

The Chargé d’Affaires expressed gratitude to POSCO officials for treating the injured worker with care “like a family member” and for their efforts in his rehabilitation. He also urged POSCO to ensure that the worker receives all benefits and entitlements guaranteed under Korean law, as well as any long-term support needed for him to continue his livelihood.
