Myanmar is planning to produce 4,000 tons of timber from a forest reserve in Pantaung, Pyay district in the Bago Region during 2019-20 FY.

“We are producing timber with rules and regulations. We cannot cut down all the trees,” said Aung Naing Oo, Manager of the forest reserve.

“We negotiated with Myanma Timber Enterprise to mark the trees in Buuyoe forest reserve,” said Lin Thu Ko from Forestry Department in the township.

The department is using over 100 workers, 43 elephants, 12 trucks, four machines to load and unload timber, three dozers and one grader to produce timber in this season. It produced 5,000 tons of timber in 2018-19 FY.
