Deputy Minister for Commerce U Aung Htoo discussed Myanmar-India trade promotion including continuous exports of beans and pulses to India, with Consul Prof. Ranganathan J and party from Chennai of India, at his office on January 3, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The meeting mainly focused on sustainable exports of bean and pulses, promotion of trade and investment and cooperation between the business of both countries, development of cross-border e-commerce trade.

Till December 6 of this fiscal year, the sector earned 157 million US dollars from exports of over 120,000 tons of bean and pulses. In the same period last year, the sector earned 152 million US dollars from exports of 300,000 tons of beans and pulses. Despite a decline in bean export volume, export earnings increased by five million US dollars.

“Despite a decline in bean export volume, the increased export earnings is linked to increased bean prices,” he added.
