Myanmar has only nine patients under investigation of coronavirus

Coronavirus (COVID-19) monitoring measures are still going on in the townships bordering China’s Yunnan Province, and till February 19 morning, there were only nine patients under investigation of the virus at some hospitals across Myanmar.

Those townships are Panwa-Chiphwe, Waimaw and Momauk in Kachin State and Muse, Namkham and Laukkai in Shan State (North).

COVID-19 has spread to 26 countries including China. According to the figures from World Health Organization on February 17, there were 71,429 confirmed cases across the world. China had 70,635 confirmed cases and 1,775 people had died.

Till February 18, Myanmar had no confirmed cases but 35 patients under investigation and two suspects. Of the 37, 35 have a history of visiting China. They are all now in good health.

According to the figures from WHO available on February 19, there were 73,332 confirmed cases across the globe. The number included 60 in Hong Kong, 10 in Macao and 22 in Taiwan outside mainland China. A total of 1870 people had died.

The coronavirus has spread to 25 countries beyond China. There were 804 confirmed cases in those countries.
