Yangon — Tun Tun Min, a former world champion in Myanmar's traditional boxing, has announced that he will auction his championship belt to support victims of recent floods across the country.
In a social media statement, Tun Tun Min shared, “I am auctioning off the championship belt I earned as a world champion in Myanmar’s traditional boxing. The proceeds will go directly to flood relief efforts. Although this belt holds great personal value, I recognize that my capacity to assist flood victims is limited. Therefore, I am holding this auction to contribute in any way I can.”
He assured that all funds raised from the auction will be entirely donated to those affected by the floods and will not be used for any other purposes.
Recent floods have severely impacted several villages within the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, with residents taking refuge on rooftops and in trees, while others have been swept away by the rising waters. Social media has been abuzz with urgent calls for assistance.
Due to rising water levels in the Sinthae and Paunglaung rivers, significant flooding has been reported in the Zeyar Thiri, Poba Thiri, and Pyinmana townships. The affected areas are experiencing extensive flooding, and there is an urgent need for rescue and relief operations.
