Myanmar faces more hot weather

Day temperature has increased more from 2°C to 7°C than the average temperature of May in all regions and states, according to a weather forecast made by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) on May 12.

Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in lower Sagaing, Mandalay regions and Shan State (north and south), isolated in Nay Pyi Taw, upper Sagaing, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi regions, Kayin and Mon states, regionally heavy fall in Mandalay Region and partly cloudy in the remaining regions and states.

Day temperatures are 7°C higher than average temperature of May in Kachin, Kayin and Mon states, from 5°C to 6°C higher than average temperature of May in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions and Shan State (north), from 3°C to 4°C higher than average temperature of May in upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Taninthayi regions, Shan (east), Chin and Rakhine states and 2°C higher than average temperature of May in Shan (south) and Kayah states.

The recorded day temperatures are 45°C each in Myinmu and Chauk, 44°C each in Monywa, Nyaung-U, Minbu, Magway, Taungdwingyi and Pauk, 43°C each in Shwebo, Kyemone, Myingyan, Aunglan, Pakokku, Gangaw, Sinphyukyun and Gyobingauk. The recorded rainfalls are 2.64 inches in Loikaw, 2.37 inches in Meiktila, 1.93 inches in Hlaingtat, 1.88 inches in Singkai, 1.85 inches in Heho, 1.38 inches in Nyaungshwe, 1.2 inches in Patheingyi (Shwesaryan), 1.04 inches in Amayapuya and 1.02 inches in Myitnge.

Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay, and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in the upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State, scattered in lower Sagaing and Mandalay regions, Shan, Chin and Kayah states and isolated in the remaining regions and states. Degree of certainty is 80%, it said.

Likelihood of isolated rainfalls or thundershowers in the upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Shan states for the next two days, it said.
