Myanmar Economic Bank in Mawwan ward, Hpakant was attacked by a handmade bomb on 5:30 pm on November 4 injuring 3 policemen according to a policeman at the scene.

“Three policemen got injuries and the two got only minor injuries. The injured were sent to hospital, said the policeman who didn’t want to be identified.

Police stations and check points in entire Hpakant Township fired gunshots since 8:00 pm and these had caused chaos on the roads. Pedestrians and those in the jade mines were seen running on the social media.

A policeman named Thet Naing Oo was shot at a close range on the morning of October 10 at the rope bridge in Mashi Kahtaung ward, Hpakant.

Similarly, 3 policemen from anti-drugs force based in Hpakant were also attacked on September 10. After the February 1, 2021, there were over 20 people killed in Hpakant Township accused of being  spies and connected with ward administrators.
