Myanmar and Russia discuss plans to build fertilizer factories in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Magway

U Hla Moe, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development and the delegation led by Mr. Artemiy Alimov, the Myanmar representative of Russia's Ross Concrete Investment Fund and the chairman of LLC Souznedra, met at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development in Nay Pyi Taw on July 3 to discuss plans for cooperation between the two countries in building fertilizer factories in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Magway, sources said.

In that meeting, they discussed technologies and cooperation plans for the construction of three small mobile natural fertilizer factories, rural area development, and the methods of construction of natural fertilizer factories in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Magway regions.

Deputy Minister U Myint Soe, Permanent Secretary, Director Generals and officials from the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association attended the meeting.

In the afternoon, Union Minister U Hla Moe, along with officials, arrived at the cooperative association's office in Tatkon and Pyinmana townships, and met with the association's executives and members of the association.

At the meeting, the association's executives clarified agricultural activities, the conditions of rice trading and agricultural products trading. The union minister said that as the executives of the cooperative association, they must continuously supervise and control the success of the association, benefit and welfare activities of the members. They have to make sure to increase yield per acre in rainfed rice cultivation, to use of pure breed, to correct the planting system and to carry out the use of artificial fertilizers and natural fertilizers. The ministry will provide support and help solve the business difficulties of the farmers from the association to increase their income, the union minister said.
