As of 1 February, the Ministry of Health and Sports has added the rotavirus vaccine (RV) to the regular vaccination program.

This becomes 12th vaccine of regular vaccination program in Myanmar.

Deputy Director Dr. Htar Htar Lin, the project manager of Extended Vaccination Program said: “It is difficult for the whole country to add the new vaccine to the list. In 2016, three types of vaccines were added to the list. They are Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Measles-Rubella and Ebola virus. The ministry put other vaccines into the list. I would like to urge the people to get vaccinated. Health staff are ready to give vaccines to the people.”

The ministry gives RV vaccine to the two-month babies for the first time. They will need RV vaccines for the second time.
