More Myanmar migrant workers are returned to Myanmar after Chinese New Year due to Novel Coronavirus, sources said.

Myanmar workers returned to their homes before Chinese New Year and they returned to China after Chinese New Year annually.

“A total of 116 Myanmar workers returned home from Shweli yesterday night. Some came back homes under their own arrangement and some came back as their employers told them to go back. Some informed the consul and asked him to help them to go home. They arrived here around 8 pm and we arranged them to eat and stay. They went to Kanbalu, Sagaing Region,” said Thaung Tun from Muse social welfare association.

They worked at an orchid farm in Shweli and all are in good health.

“Over 1,000 inmates from Mansi prison are freed today and they had been arrested as they overstayed in Shweli. They returned home under their own arrangement. One of them is ill and is hospitalized,” said Thaung Tun.

“There were many people who came back to Myanmar from Shweli and most of them went back to Yangon and Mandalay. It is not easy to get bus tickets now. Some went back to their homes in groups by renting cars,” said Ye Min Tun, driver of Muse-Lashio passenger bus.
