Monk U Kaw Nan Nya, who was staying at Thitsar Shwe Gu Monastery in Nyaung Nguteto Village, Sagaing Township, was shot and beheaded on October 13, announced the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC).

A statement issued that the 50-year-old monk U Kaw Nan Nya, who resides at Thitsar Shwe Gu Monastery in Nyaung Nguteto Village, Sagaing Township, was leaving in the monastery's vehicle to go round town to accept alms to the wards in Saltaung at 8:45 am on October 13 and about 15 PDF members (under investigation) stopped the car. They shot and beheaded the monk. They took the vehicle along with them.

Monk U Kaw Nan Nya died at the scene with his head severed and gunshot wounds, according to the statement.

The statement stated that 56 monks and a nun were killed due to the nationwide assassination, and that the security forces are continuing to work in accordance with security procedures to identify and arrest those who shot and killed the religious people and take action in accordance with the law.
