The Ministry of Energy announced that ongoing flooding has caused delays in operations at the terminals in Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ), but there is no fuel shortage at the terminals.

Since mid-July, torrential rains have continued across the nation, leading to flooding in some states and regions. As a result, regular operations at the terminals in Thilawa SEZ have experienced slight delays.

The transportation of fuel to various regions and states has also faced delays due to accessibility issues.

To prevent fuel shortages at stations before the arrival of fuel tankers, the Ministry of Energy has implemented urgent plans to supply fuel to these stations.

Additionally, arrangements have been made to transfer fuel from temporarily closed stations to remaining ones across the nation.

The Ministry urged the public not to store or buy excess fuel due to rumors of shortages, reassuring that there is no fuel shortage in Myanmar.

The Fuel Import, Storage, and Distribution Supervisory Committee has stored fuel in advance at the storage tanks in Thilawa SEZ, with plans to ensure full usage by mid-August. Furthermore, the Ministry stated that plans are underway for the arrival of foreign oil tankers.
