Military arrests three more chief Ministers

Military [Tatmadaw] arrested three Chief Ministers of Sagaing Region, Mon and Kayin States, yesterday.

Those Chief Ministers are under house arrests.

Acting President Myint Swe declared a state of emergency in a country for one year on February 1st and then the state power was handed over to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Later, President Win Myint, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Chief Ministers across the country were arrested on the same day.

On the following day, most Chief Ministers were released but they were under house arrests.

Dr Myint Naing, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region, Nan Khin Htwe Myint, Chief Minister of Kayin State and Dr Aye Zan, Mon State Chief Minister were re-arrested by the military yesterday.

The people assumed that those chief ministers were arrested again due to their online speeches which strongly condemned the military coup.

Moreover, the military seized the hand phones in the house of Mon State Chief Minister and arrested the Mon State Chief Minister Dr Aye Zan and Thet Naing who is one of the members of Mon State National League for Democracy.

Likewise, Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung, Who is vice chairman-2 of National League for Democracy was moved into undisclosed place from his house arrest on February 7th.

Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein also was taken from his house arrest to Nay Pyi Taw on February 5th.
