To raise awareness among public and to protect COVID-19, mask campaign was held at Bago General Hospital on May 10. Besides, masks were being attached to the Hintha birds, symbol of Bago Region.

The Ministry of Health and Sports has issued statements to wear masks to protect during COVID-19.  But, it is seen that few people abide by to wear masks and these campaigns were held in Bago Region.

Charity organizations in Bago Region attached masks to Bago’s symbol of Hintha birds and distributed 500 masks to patients, visitors and those caring the patients free of charge.

“We held mask campaign in Bago Hospital to wear masks among patients. Starting from this hospital, we hope to spread wearing masks to entire Bago Region. State Counselor has advised and Ministry of Health and Sports issued statements to wear masks. We are following their instructions,” said Dr. Yang Naing Maung, medical superintendent of Bago Hospital.

The mask campaign will be held in Bago only once and if violation of wearing masks be found out, violator must buy 3 masks for Ks, 1000 as fine. Dr. Yang Naing Maung also advised not to visit hospital during COVID-19 if there is no emergency health issue.
