There were long queues of people waiting to make a temporary border pass at the border gates between Myanmar and China and selling of tokens were also taken place according to locals of Muse.
There are three gates in Muse that allows entrance and exit. Temporary border pass issuing was allowed since September 4 and initially, Nandaw gate and Sinphyu gate were opened.
As a result, there were many people passing from these two gates. On September 13, the rest gate which is Manwain gate was opened.
It’s been a week that Nandaw gate and Sinphyu gate were opened. The announcement on opening of Manwain gate was made on September 12 and so there were many people there. Hotels in Muse were packed with people and so many people came here for waiting spending the night there. Manwain gate allowed about 100 people. There were long queue because they were waiting to take tokens for border pass. The two gates allowed an average of 200 or 300 people daily.
“I’ve heard that there were some people lined up to get token and sold again. I don’t know how much that cost. I’ve seen that a token cost Yuan 100 to 300. If you have a registration card, you can make a border pass. China allowed six nights seven days. If you stay more than 7 days, they can arrest you,” said a local from Muse.
Temporary Border Passes (TBP) have been issued since September 4 for legally entering China via border gates between Myanmar and China in Muse.
In the early months of this year, those who can show household lists and those staying in Muse and Namtkham can make border passes and allowed entrance to China.
Ministry of Immigration and Population of Myanmar has been issuing TBP who can show their EIDs with the fee of Ks.1000 per person.
