The military and Mandalay District Fire Services Department spray disinfectants in crowded places and Buddhist monasteries in Mandalay city every four days in support of the Covid-19 preventive measures, say local sources.

A monastery at the foot of Mandalay Hill and five nunneries in Aungmyaythazan Township, Myinwin Min Monastery in Mahaaungmyay Township, religious buildings on Yankin Hill in Patheingyi Township and Myohaung Railway Station were disinfected on April 21. Bhamo Monastery and Bawdi Mandaing Nunnery in Mahaaungmyay Township were also disinfected on April 25.

“Under the instruction of our leaders, the military is spraying disinfectants in places across the city in support of the covid-19 preventive measures. We will continue this task. We are disinfecting crowded places, markets, monasteries and religious buildings. We have disinfected many places and markets. We are doing this with eight teams. We do this without discrimination against race or religion,” said Lieutenant Colonel Kyaw Thura, commandant of No.111 Communications Unit.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Myanmar, Mandalay District Fire Services Department has been spraying disinfectants in seven townships of the district every four days by adopting projects.
