A homemade bomb exploded beside Yangon-Mawlamyine Road in Myayni Village, Thaton Township, Mon State, on July 11 morning, injuring a passerby, according to local sources.
The bomb blasted between Mile Post Nos.17/5 and 147/6 while a man was riding a motorbike from Naungkala Village to Thaton.
“The incident happened at about 7.45 am. The man sustained injuries to the stomach and left leg after being hit by shrapnel. But he is not in serious condition,” said a local resident.
A local social welfare association sent the injured man to Thaton People’s Hospital.
There have been frequent bomb explosions along Yangon-Malamyine Road in Thaton Township causing some casualties, local sources said.
