Man shot dead by armed group in Kyaikhto Township

A man from Theinzayat Town, Kyaikhto Township, Mon State, was reportedly shot and killed on the morning of December 3, according to local sources.

The victim was identified as U Zeya Aung, a 40-year-old resident of Ward (1), Theinzayat Town. Reports indicate that on the morning of December 3, while traveling to the Upper Alu Lay Village area for work-related purposes, he encountered an armed group and was subsequently detained, according to a local resident.

The resident further stated, “U Zeya Aung’s body was found near the cemetery hill of Upper Alu Lay Village.” The same source mentioned that U Zeya Aung died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Similarly, on the evening of November 19, another incident occurred in Theinzayat Town’s Wadetkwin Village, where 40-year-old U Chit Ko was reportedly detained by an armed group. His body was discovered the following morning, November 20, in a rubber plantation near Wadetkwin Village.

This year alone, more than 62 people have been killed, and over 10 others injured, due to targeted shootings and killings in Mon State.
